Armor of Earth is a far cry form what they could do here...Remember you DONT KNOW THE CLASSES SKILLS.

I think people are complaining because they don't see the "next great damage dealer or new tank". I think all they want is a new profession that does more damage than a warrior or an ele.

I think most people complain because they thought the Assasin was going to be the next great damage dealer/tank and that didn't end up being so. The Ritualist doesn't get much love either for the same reason...they don't seem (in their minds) to be as good as the monk at healing.

Problem is is that we will judge and compare all the new classes to the Core classes that everyone loves. You got your straight damage dealer, you elemental class, ranged attacker, necromancer death class, the healer, and so on. When Anet deviates from the "norm" people will get upset, mainly cause they just don't understand the class. I gave up on my Ritualist cause I personally just didn't "get it". I still have an Assasin cause I did "get it".

I think both Factions professions are more suited to PvP, but PvE is not impossible with them. I hope Nightfalls professions are good at both!

I'm guessing that the Dervish will be an AoE-focussed melee character. (Compared to assassins, which are primarily single target)

Also guessing that the Paragon will play like a ranged Diablo2 Paladin, with the party-buffing chants.

Oh lord, please dont start saying that. I dont want people to start comparing games to games to games.

Not attacking you or anythign Zubey, but Guildwars is not Diablo, Diablo is not Guildwars. World of Warcraft is not Guildwars, so forth and so on..

There's a difference between being excited to try something new and saying that these will be the best thing ever.

And either of those is far better than already complaining...

The Dervish characters sound pretty nice, can't wait to try them out and see how they'll do in battle. Plus, they look kinda cool with the hoods.

After reading about the Paragons, they could end up being a popular class. Who knows. Range attacks, shouts, boosting fighting abilities...sounds like a very good support class.

I'm liking the new classes and such, but I'm worried about how fast these campaigns are being released. Unless you spend every day on GW grinding on through missions, there is no way you would be able to enjoy the game. Only one or two characters that have finished the game would go onto the next one, leaving the other characters further behind. I'd like some slack given. :\ People who farm faction almost everyday (like my entire alliance who owns Bai Paasu) won't be able to get every single character done with every mission on time. Unless you have pvp slots, but that doesn't really count. Maybe once every year, or once every 9 months, but every six months ? Really, you couldn't enjoy the game to it's fullest that way.

I don't see how that's any different from praising them based on a short preview on two classes, aside from being of negative polarity. Some people get hyped up, and some people, well, don't.

I'll wait and see, of course, but I don't really feel much either way. A bit unpleasantly surprised at first, but it's faded, and now I'm not quite sure how I feel about the profession.

Nor am I going to worry too much about it. The preview is not too far away in the future, and many concerns and questions can be addressed there.

I suppose at least a portion of the issue on my part is a classical Sour Grape, as I'm not sure I can quite afford Chapter 3 on my limited budget, as tuition prices can be a bit prohibitive <_<

Well, I play a mesmer quite often. Shatter Enchantment is lots of fun now, I can see it being even more fun real soon now!

And I play an assassin too amongst others, so I am not making fun of them when I say that Arcane Thievery can really ruin their whole day! I mean there are a lot of assassins who carry only one spell, Shadow Refuge. Take that away with Arcane Thievery for 30 sec, and you usually see them doing a 180 and vanishing over the horizon!

Basing a char classes survival on enchantments is a little scary. They should use stances instead ... which can be stripped, but are in general much safer.

As it stands now, the only thing we can judge is only on physical looks from those 4 sample images. So lets get to judging!!!

The Paragon male looks like a Warrior with new armor, the Paragon female looks like an elementalist....WAY too much like an elementalist.

The Dervish female looks sorta like a Ritualist, but a lot less whimsical. The hood definitely looks neat. ^^ The male dervish looks WAY too much like Zasalamel from Soul Calibur 3 >.>

I dont know how these characters will play, or what kind of presence they will have, but it its definitely exciting.

That was the point I was trying to make with my post. That if it's okay to get hyped up based on a short preview, it's okay to feel disappointed, as well.

I just thought of something, the warrior stance buffs look like they are for Paragons. Could the warrior armor/shield nerfs be for the Dervish, will the Dervish get the ele damage protection that warriors lost?

I like their look... but the description sound very boring.. feel like just another clone of exisiting class combo (Paragon a shouting Monk with range weapon and Dervish a Elm/War with lots AoE). A.net could really do better.

Well.. of couse all have to wait for the test play to tell... but maybe I will save yet another $50 bucks.

They said enchantments and spells...(you know form ritualists you can make lasting effects without making them enchantments or stances...Ritual lord anyone?)

Also Shatter costs ALOT and has a huge recharge...if their enchantments are quick cast and recharge...GG Shatter.

I can't wait to try the new characters out.

I am not done with my new characters yet so it will be easy to create one of these characters to play in the weekend event.

Now I don't usually play in PvP so try not to pwn me to bad.

ZOMG, cool!!

I actually liked the desert in the first chapter, if they make the desert in Nightfall not full of devourers and scarabs, that will make my day. Plus, now that we know it's about the Elonians I do so wish they would release some screenshots of the PVE areas

I think I'm a lot more interested in the new classes than I was interested in the assassin and ritualist when they previewed those, they're still not all that interesting to me after playing them.

I'm really hoping that since the dev team that made chapter 1 is the team behind Nightfall that Nightfall will be as fun as chapter 1. I also hope the fact that they're starting previews this early means that they will have more than one preview event to work out core gameplay bugs before release (cough elite missions cough alliance battles) to make this next chapter awesome from the start.

Now I just get to sit around and drool waiting for the PVE preview event

Indeed. Tis a new era! No longer will we have to reluctantly surpress half of our poor char sprites into female bodies simply because to choose male would be to choose armor that makes you want to gouge your eyes out! No longer must we feel degrated when ugly 8 ft. wammos in ugly wammo armor stand on top of your char and stare at their boobies! I tell you, men, a new age is coming! Let us rejoice and /dance proudly once more!
